Michaela and Alex had moved into a super rich neighbourhood several months ago - specifically into the abandoned, run-down mansion that some family died in long, long ago at the end of the street. The house was perfect of course. But unfortunately, that meant neighbours and from day one, the ladies had more than a few issues with all of them.

Waiting for Alex to get home from work, Michaela entertained herself by perching on a lawn chair on top of their newly renovated balcony that had the perfect view into their closest neighbour's backyard. She had on a pair of sunglasses and laid out in the chair as if she were sunbathing, despite it being near-freezing and being dressed in an over-sized sweater with a cat on it and wrapped in a scarf and hat. If you paid close enough attention, you could see Michaela raise what looked like a sling-shot every now and then, and maybe something fly over the neighbour's fence and into their pool which would be frozen by the next morning.

The somethings may have been buttons she removed from clothing that was found in the house when they moved in. Very old clothing that clearly belonged to the previous, very dead tenants. And the buttons may have more than a few hexes on them.

She smiled to herself as she closed her left eye, aimed, and shot another button into the pool, now sloshing around like a Slushie. In her own special way, this was Michaela's idea of gifting her wife Alex with flowers after a long day at the office.

After a long day at the office, the sight of their neighbour's pool, half-frozen and covered in buttons, is just what she needed to bring a smile (Well, more of a smirk) to her face. Its not hard to guess who, and where, the buttons came from.

Stepping into their house, Alex tossed her jacket on the coat rack haphazardly before heading up the stairs and out onto the balcony. Crossing to where her wife reclined on a lounge chair with a bucket of buttons, she leaned down and pressed a quick kiss against her lips.

"You know I love you, right?"

Grinning like an idiot, she dragged out another chair for herself and sat down next to Michaela before slipping on her own glasses and grabbing a handful of buttons.

"God, you wouldn't believethe stupidity I had to deal with at work today."

Settling back in her chair, she accepted the wine with a grateful look. "God, this new kid they hired as an intern. He's supposed to be working under me but all he does is get my coffee order wrong and get under my feet," she rolls her eyes, sipping at her drink. "Not to mention he can't even handle filing things in alphabetical order?? What the hell are they teaching kids these days?"

Alex snorts, flinging one of the buttons into the pool. "I'm pretty sure they got him charmed to do well. Its sure not his own brain doing the work. Honestly though, if the department didn't have regular magic and beguilement screenings to keep everything 'on the level', I'd just Sing my intern into doing a good job. It'd take a lot less work than having to yell at him every time he files something wrong."

Yo

Michaela. 25.

I like animals, telling people 'no', being the unrequited love of a man that cries a lot (bottled tears? yes please!), and long walks in the cemetery.
