If they were dating around the time his mom got sick, Michaela probably felt that his mom's time was coming and that was way too deep so she was outies. If they dated afterwards, she may have been drawn to him because he was still haunted by death. Of course, she probably doesn't just go "Yo bf I can talk to the dead" but she's pretty obviously intrigued by death. So maybe it didn't last long because lol Les is NOPE about that shit~
